Floor Care & Maintenance Guide
For Your New Garage or Patio Epoxy Flake Floor
Thank you for choosing us for your new floor coating. Your floor is designed to be durable, long-lasting, and easy to maintain. Please follow the guidelines below to ensure the best performance and longevity.
Initial Cure Times
-
Light foot traffic: After 12 hours
-
Light items (chairs, small furniture, boxes): After 24 hours
-
Heavy items (appliances, toolboxes, grills, etc.): After 48 hours (2 days)
-
Vehicle traffic: After 72 hours (3 days)
Cure times are based on normal temperatures (around 70–80°F). Cooler temperatures may extend these times.
First 7 Days (Important)
Your floor continues to fully cure during the first week.
-
Avoid dragging heavy or sharp objects
-
Avoid turning tires while stationary (no “hot tire twisting”)
-
Avoid placing rubber mats or plastic containers directly on the floor
-
Clean up spills promptly
Routine Cleaning
To keep your floor looking its best:
-
Sweep or blow off dust, dirt, and debris regularly
-
Rinse with a hose or mop with warm water and a mild cleaner (such as dish soap or a neutral floor cleaner)
-
For heavier dirt, use a soft bristle brush or microfiber mop
Pressure Washing (Patios & Outdoor Areas)
-
Avoid high-pressure washing, as it can prematurely wear down the topcoat
-
If pressure washing is needed, use low pressure only (under 1,500 PSI)
-
Keep the nozzle at least 12–18 inches away from the surface
-
Use a wide fan tip (25–40 degrees), never a pinpoint tip
Improper pressure washing can reduce gloss, increase wear, and shorten the life of the coating.
What to Avoid
-
Do not use abrasive brushes or steel wool
-
Avoid harsh degreasers or acidic cleaners
-
Do not use citrus or vinegar-based cleaners frequently
-
Avoid dropping heavy or sharp objects that could damage the coating
Spills & Chemicals
Your floor is resistant to most common substances, but:
-
Clean up oil, gas, grease, or chemicals as soon as possible
-
Long-term exposure can cause staining or dulling
Tires & Furniture Care
-
Avoid turning vehicle tires while stopped (especially in the first week)
-
Use care when moving furniture or grills on patios
-
Use pads or protection under heavy items when possible
General Tips
-
Use felt pads under furniture or equipment
-
Place entry mats in high-traffic areas if needed
-
Keeping the surface clean will help maintain both appearance and slip resistance
